Club Anniversary :  Marion DeVries – September 13

REPORTS:

  • Rotarian Rob indicated that Rotary calendars were to be available for sale however they have been delayed and we can expect delivery on the 18th.  He circulated a sign-up sheet for calendar sales. 
  • Members are reminded that the Wine Association will meet at Rotarian Jill’s house in Merrickville on Saturday September 29 at 7:00 p.m. 
  • President Anna announced that Rotarian Claire is unable to attend meetings for the next 8 to 10 weeks.    She also reminded members to ensure they have the OPP checks. 
  • Rotarian George spoke briefly about the death of past Kemptville Rotarian President Lumir Drevjany who was President in 1984/85.  The club had a moment of silence in his memory. 
  • President Anna indicated there was a special event happening in Ottawa called a Peace marathon on September 21, 2012.  Anyone interested can contact Anna for details. 
  • The District Conference is this weekend in Brockville – members are reminded to register. 
  • Special Evening - There will be a Potluck at Anna’s house on September 17, 2012 with the Group Exchange from Pakistan.  No beef or pork, but vegetarian , seafood and chicken are acceptable.  Be at Anna’s at 6:00 p.m. 
  • President Anna announced that Rotarian Rob has resigned from the Membership Chair. 
  • Rotarian Dave P. advised all that Patricia has tickets for the Youth Exchange Dinner.  They are $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00. 
  • Rotarian Donovan indicated the Friendship exchange to England is happening June 18, 2012 and he has indicated he will circulate an activity list.

Programme:    Louise Gall the owner of Blue Gypsy Winery in Oxford Mills spoke on the history of the business.

September 17 (Monday)  *Special* A Pot Luck at President Anna’s house with the Group Study Exchange from Pakistan
September 18  - Youth Exchange certification (presented by Jill E.)
September 25  Away meeting  at the  Kluk Gallery in Spencerville for B-B-Que dinner and tour of new Dutch Hill Gallery.
October 9 – away visit to Blue Gypsy Winery
