President-Elect Jill Eagle chaired the meeting as President Anna was travelling the world.
Ben Varano led the club in sing O Canada and Don Gilchrist lead the singing of grace.

Brian Cassidy Birthday– November 9, 2012 (we will sing to him when he returns)

REPORTS  and ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Cash Calendars: Rotarian Rob reported by the end of the meeting that all the calendars have been handed out (he had 12 but they were snapped up) 
  • Curling Exchange: Rotarian Bruce thanked the Rotarians who opened their homes to the curling exchange group and thanked all for attending the Pot luck on November 1, 2012. 
  • New Generations: Rotarian Jennifer once again requested assistance for the Kemptville Youth Centre burn barrels on December 2/12.  She sent a work roster around the room for volunteers. 
  • Banner Presentation: Rowena Cooper presented a banner from the Scottish curlers.

Programme:  
Our scheduled speaker called in sick so Admin Chair Cora led the group in a team-building exercise.  Everyone was rewarded with chocolate.

Additional Announcements:

  • November 11, 2012: Rotarian George will lay the wreath for the club on November 11.  Rotarian Donovan will second. 
  • Rotary Foundation Minute:  Rotarian Susan provided the club with a “Rotary Foundation Minute” as November is Foundation month.  
  • International Committee:  Rotarian Donovan reminded members there will be a meeting of the International Committee on November 7 at 7:00 at his house.
  • Christmas Parade: Despite the odds, Rotarians have once again pulled together to get the float in the Kemptville Parade on Nov. 17, 2012.  Donovan and Jennifer will co-ordinate on Parade Day, PR Chair Ken M will place the ad in the EMC and Larry D and Nancy Miller-MacKenzie have offered vehicles as has Suzie McIntosh. Yay us!!! 
  • Freedom: Rotarian George reminded us of the precious gift of freedom given to us by armed forces veterans and reminded us all to exercise our right to vote when the opportunity arises.

November 27—MGen. Christine Whitecross - experience in Afghanistan .
December 4—President Anna, husband Paul  and Rotarian Mike G. will share with us their travels and experience in  Australia.

President-Elect Jill led the club in reciting the Four Way test.
