The meeting on April 23 was cancelled so members could attend Rotary meetings at other clubs.

Announcements:

1.      Rotarian Keith Nixon advised the club that there were some logistical problems with the Canada Day Parade this year.  The grant request to the municipality had not been made and the municipality has withdrawn support for the parade.  Due to a number of other challenges, there was discussion whether the Rotary Club will be able to do the parade this year.

Moved by Jennifer Franssen, Seconded by Rob Horning that the Rotary Club of Kemptville will not participate in the Canada Day Parade in 2013 due to a number of unavoidable complications However the club will plan to participate in 2014.

                                                                                    Carried.

2.      Members heard a written request from the Rive-sud Montreal to relocate to another district.  All clubs within the current district are to vote on whether or not they wish the Rive-sud club to move.  The vote was  9 for, 7 against and 3 abstaining.  The vote results will be passed on to the district.

3.      Rotarian Rob reported that there were good sales at the Home Show held on April 20 at the College.

4.      Rotarian Gord offered a wager to any Montreal Canadian Fan in the room.  Gord will leave $50.00 with the Treasurer, to be matched by the Habs’ fan.  At the conclusion of the playoff, the money will go toward Rotary Foundation.  Rotarian Jill took the wager on behalf of all Habs fans.

Committee meetings were held following the meal.

May 7-  Dinner meeting at Geronimo Coffee House on Prescott Street.  Guest speaker Heather Childs owner

May 14- Dinner meeting at the W.B. George  with Dawn Rodger Executive Director and Jane Pelletier of Beth Donovan Hospice.

May 21- Dinner meeting at Charleys’ Restaurant on the Patio with guest speaker Amber Payne on Gardening. (bring all your gardens questions)

May 28 Dinner meeting at W.B. George with committee meetings and Board report.

June 1  Rotary Party at Nancy and John’s – Potluck, car rally etc etc . bring a friend (more details to follow)

June 4 Rotary spaghetti dinner meeting at the Youth Centre with company. Youth will present their My View film festival presentations.
